Stripping It Down

Kind of says it all, doesn't it? This is, after all, a war of attrition:

The relative strengths of the two sides mean it is too early to despair. When the decent 95 percent of a society take on the ruthless 5 percent, and when the ruthless 5 percent have no positive vision, it just may happen that the decent people will somehow - eventually - win.

Reminds me of something I read months ago on The Mesopotamian, who, thankfully, is back. Alaa was puzzling over the defeatism of Western journalists and said something to the effect that the final outcome was not in doubt as long as we held our course. After all, we were the world's most powerful nation, and our opposition only a handful of disorganized terrorists.

Perspective is a wonderful thing.

Oh, you are talking about Iraq, for a second there I thought you were talking about red vs. blue.
