Yet Another Reason The EconoPundit Is Still A Hottie....

...for one thing he is unparalleled at lobbing snark at the EU:

re: "warnings the world may dump the dollar and move on to that oh-more-nuanced Euro":

...I have a question about all this. Roughly 25% of the US landmass still remains in the public domain. That's a huge chunk of real estate serving, for example, as basic collateral backing any international loan.

I know lots of Europe is socialized, but what percent of the basic European landmass remains in the public domain?

Plus he serves up titillating fare like the following (via Steve Conover of The Skeptical Optimist), a very worthwhile blog that was new to us. Warning: you may want to send young children or those with cardiac ailments from the room before viewing this chart due to its graphic nature.

Note: I added a guesstimated Eurozone inflation for Q4 of 2004 to the bottom portion. As it was 2.2% in November and 2.4% in December, I split the difference. I was unable to find a quarterly figure in the limited time I had available this morning, so this should only be taken as a rough figure.

And although (knowing how overexcited you all tend to become by my rare forays into econoblogging) I hesitate to overwhelm the more susceptible among you with too much economic pulchritude in one sitting, I confess I was quite overcome by the following, also via the EconoPundit.

Mr. Conover created another great chart that really helps to put the national debt into historical perspective:

Head on over and check out his post. I do declare... a Southern belle is just helpless in the face of such magnificence.

Cassandra uses information gleaned from the EconoPundit to place the current U.S. debt level in historical perspective. Three charts demonstrate 1) this country is far from its peak debt level, in terms of real dollars (that peak occurred in 1946),... [Read More]

Can someone explain to me why MT decided to create an extended entry on this post when there was nothing there?

I didn't think so...

That is all.

Of course it couldn't be user error.

I can't tell you that, sorry. Can you tell me why sometimes when I update posts, it creates a new page with _2 in the title? Aggravating!!

Quite simply, the less we know about something, the more we want to display our lack of knowledge.
