Call Me A Cheerleader

I have sometimes been accused of being a cheerleader for the war.

There may be some truth to that accusation.

It's not that I never have my doubts, or my black moments: I do. It's just that when so many are putting their heads down over there and slogging it through, I really don't think it's appropriate for all of us armchair quarterbacks to undercut their efforts.

I get annoyed at all the carping. It doesn't help them get the job done - it's disheartening and distracting.

But I read this today on the Marine Corps website, and I think you should read it too. There's a big rotation going on right about now. Some of our guys are going back over for the third time.

And that's hard. And some of them are still gung-ho and can't wait to get back over there.

And some are just damned tired. But they'll go anyway, and they'll do their jobs. I don't think they're looking for anything from us - no thanks, or handouts, or anything of that kind. But we sure owe these guys a huge debt we can never repay.

And we can try to show them America appreciates what they're doing on our behalf.

Here's one way. Link courtesy of one soldier's angel, Pooke. God love ya, darlin'. It took me a while. I just couldn't find the words yet.

But how could I resist?

Hey, Cass, I remember that hot-looking hair-day picture of yourself you posted about a week ago. Now you got me thinking of cheerleader outfits on your fine photogenic self. Are you TRYING to not let me get any work done today? Mercy.

Well afe, you coaxed a laugh out of me - something of a minor miracle today. Be careful or I actually *will* post a picture of myself and then won't you be sorry!

Maybe we need more cheerleaders over there.

Ready. OK.

Two bits, four bits
six bits, a dollar!
If you are a terrorist,
stand up and hollar!

*People in crowd stand up and hollar*

*gun shots*

Besides, we should take advantage of the cheerleader training some of the prisoners over there have had. I know they did some pyramid training.

Posted by: KJ at March 11, 2005 04:19 PM

True, but I *really* don't want to see them in scimpy outfits.

He's a great comedian(ne) ain't he. Poor guy spends half his time on Who's Line playing female characters and he's makes it absolutely hilarious.

Sheesh! Cass has had this thread up for about 3 hours and not ONE person has yet accomodated her...so I will:

You're a Cheerleader!!.

Glad I could help.

He's incredibly clever. I love when he and what's his face do that film noire bit - they play off each other very well. Almost like they're reading each other's minds.

Gee... thanks Cat. I'm glad someone is still capable of lobbing snark around this place :)

Hmm, Cass...Cheerleader...sounds like BillT's scruples need to fire up ol' photoshop again.
