Attack Of The Dirty Rotten Memes

Fer crap's sake... I detest memes.

I can't stand their ridiculous painted white faces, the tight black trousers that cling to their absurd little tushes, the twee berets and too-tight striped shirts. And those obnoxious pantomime acts they insist on foisting on an unwilling audience, who stand there paralyzed with horror, knowing they're about to be teleported to the Seventh Circle of Hell....

What? WHAT??? Oh... you said MEMES? Dear God, that's even worse.

And I got memed TWICE IN ONE DAY. What in the helk is up with that? By people I thought were my friends... heh.

OK, here goes:

Detestable Meme #1:

Total Volume Of Music On My Computer:

About 10.5 Gigs. Actually I think I lied - that's just the Winamp stuff but I'm too lazy to track down the rest. Get over it.

The Last CD I Bought Was...

Two, actually. Both Connie Dover: "If Ever I Return" and "Somebody". If you like Scottish/Irish ballads or Gaelic music, I highly recommend them both. I have a nasty habit of blasting music I love when I'm in a particularly good or bad mood. We live in the woods, so I normally don't worry too much about disturbing anyone. I have actually had people ring my doorbell when playing Connie Dover or Maggie Sansone (another favorite for instrumentals) - not to complain, but to ask "Wherever did you find that heavenly music?"

Five Songs I Listen To A Lot, or Mean A Lot To Me:

Well I'm not in a self-revelatory mood for once so you're just getting songs that I listen to a lot currently. This changes almost weekly although a few of these are long-time favorites:

1. "Diamond in the Rough/Shotgun Down the Avalanche" Shawn Colvin - I don't know why I love these songs. They capture a feeling I have sometimes - that wild feeling, like something is about to break loose but it's still held in tension, joy and anger and fear and anticipation all jumbled together. Sort of the way the air feels just before a big storm is coming. There's another metaphor but I believe I'll skip it.

2. "Angela Dangerlove" by Big Head Todd & The Monsters - "Every time you wait, dreams come tumbling down...". Just good memories. Longing, in one word. Perfect song for a dreamy late spring afternoon.

3. "All The Pretty Girls" Spoon - I don't know that this song means anything to me on an emotional level. I just love the way it sounds.

4. "Mirrorball" Everything but the Girl - A sardonic song with incredibly depressing lyrics that inexplicably never fails to crack me up. I love it, plus it's in my register so I love to sing along with it.

5. "She ******** Hates Me" Puddle of Mud - What a hoot - the ultimate relationship song.

I still haven't decided with which lucky people I shall, shortly, share the hate so I advise you all to get a running head start.
