Mulch Is Evil

As much as it pains me to admit it, Krugman was right...

...the Bush economy is a dismal failure.

I'm a Republican.

I pay my taxes. Lots of them, as a matter of fact.

As an Ayn-Rand worshipping, Chinese toy loving, minion-of-the-richest-1%-type capitalist overlord, I'd like to know just where all these underpaid, uninsured, undocumented members of the oppressed Proleteriat are when you really need them?

Why the hell am I still doing my own yard work?

I don't understand what is so hard about taping a check to your back door every wednesday?

Well, so far:

1. finding someone who is willing to cut my grass.

2. having found someone, getting them to show up regularly.

3. being willing to part with $75 for a job I think is only worth say, $40, max.

And frankly, if I could satisfy #2 right now, #3 would not be a deal-killer.

And that's coming from someone who did this for a living for 3 years, Pile.

Oh, I forgot to mention #4:

If I'm going to shell out $75 a week (that's $300 a month for you math-impaired folks at home, for a half-acre, partially wooded and landscaped lot, only parts of which even have to be mowed), I expect them to do my ENTIRE yard, not selected (and varying) portions of it on a to-be-announced basis, and I expect them to do a professional job.

I'm really not that picky, but I work hard for my money and it irks me to pay someone for shoddy work.

Oh yeah, you aren't in Texas. For that kind of jack you could buy one kick arse riding mower.

That is what I like about you Cass, you don't tolerate shoddy work.....or doddling service.

You know, it is summer time now, where are the kids?

One of the reasons I now hate mowing the lawn is because I did so much of it during the summers as a kid.

That's the problem Pile - you can't use a mower on our lawn. It has to be cut by hand with a WeedEater. We live on a very steep hill - the side yard is so steep it's hard not to fall sometimes when you're walking down to the lake.

I paid to have it mowed when we were in California and told the renters I didn't want them working in the yard because I viewed it as a liability problem. It's a gorgeous lot and I mow it myself all the time, but I'd hate to let a kid do it. It's not that hard (except on your back) but people are such wusses nowadays.

If we stay here, I may put in a second set of stone steps and retaining wall down by the second deck. I just don't want to spend the money if we're just going to move again.

That sucks. I hate weedeaters. $75 min. for me, thanks for asking.

Let the kids do it. What are they going to say? I didn't know I might fall down a steep hill?

If they sue anyhow, you have a lake, right? Stocked with catfish, maybe? No problem.
