Daily DimWit: We'll Not Be Having Any Erections Around Here....
Headline of the Day. We're not worthy.
Helen Thomas is finding those White House press conferences tough going these days:
Helen Thomas, doyenne of the White House press corps, tangles with Tony Snow at today's briefing over President Bush's appointment of Karl Zinmeister as domestic policy adviser:QUESTION: Why did the president pick a man who is so contemptible of the public servants in Washington to be his domestic adviser, saying, People in Washington are morally repugnant, cheating, shifty human beings. Why did he...
SNOW: Apparently an opinion that's...
QUESTION: Why would he pick such a man to be a domestic adviser?
SNOW: You meant contemptuous as opposed to contemptible I think.
QUESTION: Pure contempt.
SNOW: I'm not sure it's pure contempt. I know Karl Zinsmeister pretty well and he is somebody who expresses himself with a certain amount of piquancy. You're perhaps familiar with that, aren't you, Helen?
(LAUGHTER)
Maybe we here in the old U. S. of A. have been going about this whole "helping girls do better in school" bit all wrong...
This is what it sounds like when the doves cry:
Being a hunter, fisherman, crabber, even an occasional snow camper with only a threadbare sleeping bag, I'm more than a bit perplexed why a man who absolutely needed to eat, killed a deer and then lamented the entire affair.Upon seeing a deer that would provide much-needed nourishment, Elbroch wrote, "I moved quietly past the fawn to a boulder roughly 10 feet away and sat down [nervous] about what I had intended and now felt rather obligated to do." Elbroch, who learned about the outdoors in his native England, killed the deer while a red squirrel, he wrote, "screamed, chickadees became alarmed, and a ruffed grouse shrieked."
Lord, give me strength. Squirrels screaming, grouse shrieking? Come now. But Elbroch wasn't finished. As the deer died, he wrote, "I held him close, hoping to comfort his death ... I actually cried, while the nearby animals seemed to surround me and voice alarm and protest."
Men. They are such insensitive brutes.

Lorena Bobbit would have loved that.
Helping girls do better by them getting preggers?
Who knew? I guess this does prove that Darwin Was Right and that apes and humans did recombine recently. Why did he...
Of course she isn't in the same class as a public servant. The press aren't morally repugnant, cheating, shifty human beings with an agenda and a track record of lies, misinterpretations and so forth. They fill a public need, you see.

The only thing he should have been lamenting was letting all those protesting animals squeel in his general direction. He should have killed and eaten them, too.

I love watching Tony Snow hand Helen Thomas her butt. I don't think she's bright enough to know it has happened, however. A few more times though, and her compliant, flirtatious veneer will begin to crack, exposing her true personality.
