Al Qaeda forms 527 Group

terrorist spokesperson.jpg
Al Qaeda, the international terrorist group and social services organization held a press conference today to announce it has formed a 527 group to influence the November midterm elections in the US. Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, a spokesperson for the group, declined questions but issued the following statement:

“We have formed the group The American Center for Coming Together Through Progress not to endorse any candidate but because we feel strongly about the issues in this election. While we are unaccustomed to having our right to free speech regulated we do want to show our respect for American laws by being in compliance with McCain Feingold. We have negotiated some kicking ass rates with the international media company CNN and we did not want to jeopardize that agreement by having any troubles with the FEC. Peace be upon you.”

Oooh!!! I love it! :D

Yeah, I'll just BET they're not used to having their right to free speech regulated...like beheadings, bombings, sending jets into buildings
and the other messages we don't seem to 'get.'

Oh man, I can't WAIT til the Professym gets hold of this! He will wet himself. It is a timely message of True Progressyveness.

Perhaps the Center can set up another charity for Air America to loot. They wouldn't have to change any of their programming.

Oddly, their goals are precisely the same as those of the DNC.

Whoda thunk it?

Oh great. If the DNC & AQ start pooling their resources (as in openly) now the DNC will have access to an "armed wing", peace-y-ful as they may a*hem be...

A curious question was raised during the Al Q press conference, but not reported. AQ frontman "SAG" asked about the process of upgrading a peaceful 527 into a good ole 727... Or better yet a big honkin' 757... He made no mention as to why... Possibly MORE peaceful & influential??

Ummm...ME!!!

It's interesting to contrast the idea that "we're losing the war and by just being in Iraq we're creating more terrorists" with the idea that the terrorists are trying to influence the elections.

Just consider:

If Bush et al are bungling the war and improving terrorist recrutiing, wouldn't the terrorists want to make sure the U.S. can continue to fight the war as it is being fought now?

So why then the surge in violence in attempt to sway the elections towards a group of people who would force a change of direction if they could?

Hmmm...

FbL,
There is such a thing as the law of diminishing returns. While I would not want to continue in Iraq, this is an attempted coup by the jihadists, nothing more or less. It is more economical in the long run to be seen as mainstream than it is to be exteme. If they can
influence elections, then they have achieved their goal without firing a shot.

And we will have let it happen with our politically correct view of diversity and multiculturalism.

They don't want to continue the fight either, which is oddly encouraging, as it means we are winning, but now the stakes are even higher.

Just my take on it.

Posted by: Cricket at October 24, 2006 10:57 AM

I think I wasn't very clear. I was trying to be a smart-ass. The point is, the Jihadis seem to be acting in a manner that shows they fear Bush having the political power to continue to prosecute the war--that they'd rather have the Democrats in charge of as much of the government as possible because they believe Democrats will act in a way that benefits Jihadis. And so, the flip side of that could be that we are currently "winning"--because if we weren't the Jihadis wouldn't be so anxious for a change in U.S. political leadership. And if they thought the U.S. was united in attempting to thwart them, they wouldn't care who won the election, would they?

(sorry, that was a bit incoherent, but I can't seem to string thoughts together too well today)

You made sense, and here is an added thought: They wouldn't be trying this if they hadn't seen for themselves that there is disunity. But I also think that another reason they are doing this is because as we adapt to the conditions in the field, they are also getting worn down too. I really think they wouldn't have tried this two years ago.

Like Golda Meir said, "There will be peace when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us." I would change 'Arab' to 'terrorist.'

It is interesting that they have made the notation that they are 'following' US law.
Why so painstaking? Again, I think it is for propaganda purposes...since when does Al Qaeda play by the rules?

When it benefits them. I sincerely hope that
they are denied this chance to influence US policy in this manner. But it does tell me too that they know they will lose any street cred if they show their true colors.

Interesting to see how this will play out.

Cricket, I'm really losing the train of discussion here. This is a parody, but it wonderfully describes the truth that the terrorists are trying to influence the elections by their actions in Iraq.

*wanders of tiredly*

My bad. I have been having a really rotten week and just have not been paying attention.

Posted by: Cricket at October 24, 2006 09:42 PM

Good one, Mr. Pile.

Posted by: Cricket at October 24, 2006 09:43 PM

You know Cricket, it is getting harder and harder to write crap that is clearly satire.

Posted by: Pile On® at October 24, 2006 09:51 PM

That's a sad comment on the times we live in, isn't it?

Posted by: Sulaiman Abu Ghaith at October 24, 2006 09:58 PM

No kiddin. But it is also a sad commentary that in my current frame of mind I didn't see it for what it was...and that is scary. However, it is a brilliant piece of writing, as is all the satire I have read from you. Keep it up.
