The Commute From Hell

Tell me a scary story, Cass!

"Well, I left Crystal City early because my brief actually finished on time, so I thought the Beltway might not be too bad..."

AIIIEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight.

Thanks.

All I know is that I'm still screaming.

Two. And. A. Half. Hours.

Posted by: Cassandra at October 31, 2006 09:12 PM

How far is Crystal City? Glad you made it home safely.

Posted by: Cricket at October 31, 2006 09:17 PM

It should only be an hour.

I used to live in Warrenton, VA. I could make it in under an hour if I went in the middle of the day. Rush hour? Three hours each way.

"I thought the Beltway might not be too bad..."

What ever gave you that silly notion?!

The good news is...
Wait. There is no good news.

Oh the horror....

That's why I wouldn't take that job in DC. 3 days of commuting hell and I'd be on the 6:00 news as the latest and most hideous case of road rage.

Did the commute back in 90-91 to Clarendon (then MCRDAC). Hated it then. Only lived in Burke Center. If no wrecks it was 30 minutes in morning if I left prior to 0645. One minute after could take an hour. At night it was an hour and half no matter what.

Is that ALL?? Two and a half hours? Puhleeeeeeze!!!
Ok, ok, my apologies. I feel your pain. I have had the *pleasure* of commuting through the Beltway during rush hour. It sucks. But, the question is, can ya feel mine?
2 1/2 commute? That's typical commuter time for an LA freeway. I don't know how many times I sat for 45 minutes before EVEN MOVING ONE VEHICLE LENGTH (a 1980 Hyundai)on the 5. One friend made the mistake of getting a large drink prior to a trip to West Covina from El Toro - distance of about 30 miles. She was in near-medical pain 3 1/2 hours later when we finally arrived. I had tried to warn her, but she just couldn't really comprehend the reality of it. I couldn't either until I experienced it.

I've never liked the Beltway. Didn't like it in 1975, didn't like it in 2003, didn't like it during the visits in-between.

Back in the day I hiked over from Crystal city to the pentagon station to go home... bet that's not allowed anymore
