Food for Thought

Richard S. Lowry, whom you may remember from Marines in the Garden of Eden, emails:

Nice Guys Finish Last

How many armies do you know of throughout history who were not allowed to confine enemy combatants? How many Armies were not allowed to interrogate their prisoners? How many soldiers were not allowed to shoot at the enemy until shot at? How many leaders were under the scrutiny of a critical media and politicians who called them liars?

America, you are painting our young fighting men into a corner. America, you are running headlong toward defeat in our war on terror.

Our enemies our using our conscience and compassion against us. Our enemies our using our own media and political system against us. Our enemies will win this war not through a military victory. They will win, simply because we will give up.

Bringing our troops home from Iraq is exactly what our enemy wants. They want chaos to rein in the cradle of civilization. Bring our troops home from Iraq will solve nothing. Fighting will continue in the Horn of Africa, in Darfur, in The Philippines and in Northern Africa. Our enemy is advancing on many fronts and once their attention is no longer turned inward, they will accelerate the spread of their brand of terror.

Now smack him with a clue bat for daring to contradict Cindy Sheehan. Can't he feel her pain?
What is it with these puppy kicking baby killers anyway? They are not supposed to make sense.
They only have to fight an ethical war without a moral compass.

How dare they THINK and expose the flaws in how they are asked to do their jobs? But I support the troops.

And add to his very accurate assessment of the impending costs of a politically correct Armed Forces the battles we are fighting (and losing) at home.

Consider the infamous six Imans and US Airways. Those six openly mocked our tolerance, and will likely be rewarded financially for it, in addition to the moral victory seen and heard around the world. Consider our lilly-livered press that cowers in fear over some harmless Danish cartoons, while simultaneously calling our war-time leaders liars, crooks, and worse. All of which is eagerly consumed by our enemies. Consider our new Democratic "leaders," who eagerly rode the tiger of the MoveOn/Kos crowd into power, and will now have to deal with the result (which, frankly, they dearly deserve, but I can take no pleasure in the further erosion of our national resolve).

We apparently have already surrendered.

"They will win, simply because we will give up."

I certainly hope not; this is not, contrary to some (misguided) popular opinions, anything like another Vietnam...

I WOULD LIKE BELIEVE THAT MR LOWRY IS WRONG, BUT I'M AFRAID HE'S RIGHT. THIS ATTITUDE AND HOW THE MEDIA, LIBERALS AND CONGRESS CONSTANTLY HANDCUFF OUR MILITARY HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A LONG TIME NOW. I SUFFERED WITH THIS KIND OF INDECISIVENESS AND NOW OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS WILL HAVE TO DO THE SAME THING ONLY ITS GETTING WORSE.

You know, it reminds me of that old protest question:

“What if they gave a war and no one came?”

It always seemed bizarre to me that the first answer wasn't always, "Well, the one that had the gumption to come would be the one to raze the other guy's house."

IMO, it's not that the enemy wants us to leave. The enemy wants us to stay in Iraq, but as targets. I do not think that leaving Iraq will solve any of our problems (and may well make things worse), but at least that course would save us blood and money. I could also see staying in Iraq with a much expanded military presence, but I do not think the Congress or the populace is willing to ante up for the costs of that course of action.

What I don't want to see is the US bumbling through in Iraq for years and years.

Many Americans can be oblivious to ideals necessary to survive in a hostile world. We have had worse examples of internal sedition - look at our own civil war. The murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11 galvanized the nation for about 20 minutes (well, a little more than that) before partisan politics became its usual congressional aphrodisiac.

In the short term Iraq may well go to hell. In neither the short nor long terms are the Islamonazis going to relent. America will be attacked, most likely our largest cities, and we will respond. Hopefully this response will be to crush Iran and Syria militarily, invade Iran, and militarily govern it ala WWII Germany or Japan.

The Iranians are frantically seeking nuclear weapons. The NORKS are seeking to sell them, or fissile material. The Pakistanis have nukes and Musharraf is hanging by a thread - Pakistan virtually partitioned. How would voters react to an American city nuked? Within ten years we may know.

Just for laughs it would be nice to see some leadership from the now lame duck whitehouse. I like Bush but what he has done, or more possibly been able to do, has not been enough. The ISG Report was a complete disaster. Senate dim-bulbs Specter, Kerry, Dodd, and Nelson grovelled in Damascus. Arrest the sons of bitches and try them under the applicable law.

So....if you are getting e-mails from the editor of NRO, then maybe I can get him on my exploratory committee?

Posted by: Pile On® at January 4, 2007 06:41 PM

Different Lowry, I think, Pile. :p

No one at NRO even knows I am alive.

Liberals in the media and the Democratic Party are more the enemy than the terrorists in Iraq are. They made us lose the last war, they're making us lose this war, and they'll make us lose the next one too.

Giving up? I hope not!
There are too many NAZI Arabs out there, who need some help in order to get their head out of their butt!

Flashback: Are their WMD in Iraq?
Democrats know the answer!

Posted by: German Voice at January 4, 2007 07:55 PM

Christians, jews, and muslims have always been friends, but the NAZIS want to destroy this friendship since 1928/33 (Muslim Brotherhood/Third Reich)! No doubt, good christians, good jews, and good muslims must stand together in order to defeat the NAZIS! 99% of the people around the world are against them and want to live together in friendship and peace!

Our Troops are doing great, but they need our all support, therefore, let us spread the message that the NAZIS must surrender! The louder, the better! NAZIS are brainwashed, and only if they get this message every day, they will surrender one day! By the way, they are doing it the same way! That is why we hear every day, in the news media and elsewhere, that we are doing wrong! That is the so called "NAZI Propaganda"! So why do not we use their own weapons? Let us invade their blogs and forums and tell the people the truth about the NAZIS (NAZI Arabs)! We can do that and Our Troops will defeat them!

Want to know something about NAZIS?

Watch the Peace Train at YouTube!
Warning! Very graphic! Really!

Want to know something about the NAZI Arabs?

Tell the children the truth!

God bless Our Troops and America!

What I don't want to see is the US bumbling through in Iraq for years and years.

Yes, by all means we should get the hell out of there just like we did with Germany and Japan. What? We're still in Germany and Japan after all of these years?? Damned stubborn, idiotic Republicans obviously had no "plan" for winning the peace. Those countries will never adopt anything remotely similar to Democracy, nor can they ever live in peace, and are now quagmires. What?? Those are both now at least pseudo Democratic and quite peaceful? You don't say! Hmm, maybe there's something to this idea of demonstrating resolve on a global stage after all. Maybe the push for the global pussification of America isn't that great of an idea after all.

Just maybe...

Posted by: Daveg at January 5, 2007 08:03 AM

Thank God that Our Troops are still in Germany and other countries of the European Union, because the idea of the European Union is "Global Governance". The EU is a national socialist dictatorship (ruled by Germany/France/Russia - Russia is currently not an official member) and a safe haven for the NAZI Arabs. Well, the United States makes always the same mistake when going to war, we only remove the dictators and think it is done. But what is about to install democracy, capitalism, and removing the NAZI ideology? That is why socialism and the NAZI ideology have always survived (South Korea is the same as with Japan)! Now, after we looked away for too long, there are some millions NAZIS, also in America (Lyndon LaRouche and some more liberals are just an example), out there. I wonder that some Americans believe that socialism is a great idea. How could it be a great idea to have censored TV, radio, news media, etc., to pay up to 75% of the income to the government (taxes/social security insurance/church taxes, etc.), to have high rates of crime and corruption, and to have Big Brother everywhere? Let's hope that we get Near and Middle East under our control, I mean all countries!

Okay, it is time to have some fun now! See you later guys!
