Operation Fresh Air

DC area readers, we need your help with an exciting project!

From the inimitable Carrie Costantini:

Operation Fresh Air is offering wounded vets from Bethesda and Walter Reed and their families a day of fishing, relaxation and fun at Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge.

This event will take place June 2nd from 11 AM to 3 PM. This is a first time effort. The goal is to provide a great day away from the hospital and a chance to get outside in a safe environment for families and their wounded loved ones.

If you would like to be involved, below are some ways you could support the effort:

Prior to June 2nd:

Help with fund-raising

Assist Event Coordinator

Shopping for supplies

June 2nd 2007:

Help set-up 9 AM to 11 AM at the park (4 volunteers needed)

Bring fishing equipment and assist -11 AM to 1 PM (min. 10 volunteers)

Bring fishing equipment and assist -1 PM to 3 PM (min. 10 volunteers)

Help serve lunch and visit- flexible any time (5 volunteers)

Help with clean-up 3 PM to 4 PM (5 volunteers needed)

To sign up to help with one of the positions above or if you have any additional ideas, please email cynthia.juarez@dcr.virginia.gov or call 703-670-7480.

Plans are already underway, but if you can lend a hand we could sure use the assistance. These are some very special people who have given their utmost on our behalf. This is our chance, in a very small way, to give something back. The editorial staff is very excited about this project and would like to thank Carrie and Cynthia for their dedication and energy.

On another note, we hear there has been a promotion. There is just no keeping track of some people...

Sheesh.

We could have them here shooting fish in a barrel.
