And Denial Ain't Just A River In Egypt....
Savor the madness.... via Glenn Reynolds
POLITICO 1, LEFTY BLOGOSPHERE ZERO:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid confirmed Thursday that he told liberal bloggers last week that he thinks outgoing Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace is "incompetent."Reid acknowledged similarly disparaging Army Gen. David Petraeus, head of Multinational Forces in Iraq.
But Reid, whose comments to bloggers first appeared in The Politico, also told reporters: "I think we should just drop it."
But even getting it straight from the horse's mouth isn't good enough for lefty bloggers:
Taylor says "there is no doubt." I find that to be, well, wrong. As discussed last night, a reading of the transcript leads me to believe that Reid was referencing Alberto Gonzales as "incompetent." Let's review the transcript:
Oh. Dear. God. Let's not, and say we did. After all, we can't trust the word of Senator Reid himself, can we?
We can't even trust a transcription from a tape of the call, and if any of the more intellectually honest members of the Reality Based Community try to point out that words have meaning, they will be accused of failing to demonstrate sufficient socialist ardor.
Incroyable.
Just keep repeating to yourself: even Reid doesn't know what he meant to say.
Judging from his other comments over the past day or so, that shouldn't be too tough an argument to make.
Update: Want to make sure the troops hear something positive for a change?
You read how our Marines need, more than anything else, to hear that you love them. By God, you ought to. And according to my email, Col. Simcock "admonished" them into getting a separate email account set up for us, just hours after we started mailing.Let's fill it.
UPDATE: I've had a report from Sgt. Deboard at RCT-6. He says they've gotten 25 emails so far. He'd like six thousand -- one for every Marine there.
We can do six thousand. I know you folks can make it happen, if you put your minds to it.
Damn straight. Come on people.
I'm sick of Harry Reid and his ilk filling our guys' ears with poison. How about a little love?

Based on some of the comments I read over at whateverin-the-hell site, no wonder Reid gets away with stuff from a certain part of the population.
Folks, BDS is real and it's debilitating.
Crippling even.

Yes, this kind of denial is disturbing.
In their world, apparently, "wishing makes it so."

Old Netroots spin:
Hey, he's just a blunt-speaking courageous former boxer who tells it like it is.
New Netroots spin:
Hey, he's just a blunt-smoking brain-damaged former boxer who doesn't know what he's saying.

Silence, Peasants!
I am Speaking Truth to Power, and only the awesome rhetorical prowess of Keith Olbermann protects me from a vicious savaging and certain death between the gaping jaws of Barney the White House Terrier.

Opinions are like ... certain anatomical features which shall not be named - everybody's got one. It's just that some (opinions) stink more than others.

Reid is a former boxer? I didn't know they had a pencil-weight division.
Posted by: Grim at June 15, 2007 02:04 PM
And a brain-damaged former boxer is in the Senate, occupying the Majority Chair? Maybe he should call up Muhammad Ali for lessons on how to speak effectively.

Silence woman!
The American People have Empowered me!

Okay...the American People empowered you but who do you blame for neutering you?

The desperate spin by the Lefty bloggers goes to show that no matter how far one is gone into BDS, it's still readily apparent that Reid said something stupid, astoundingly stupid, when he called GEN Pace incompetent.
To add to the ridiculousness of the Left's stand on this, Reid claims that he had the cojones to say that to Pace's face. Yeah, right. We are supposed to believe Reid is man enough to attack his own nation's most senior general in a face-to-face confrontation, but is so cowardly that he can't wait to surrender to bunch of islamic fascists 3000 miles from DC? Uh, sure.
Reid's not worthy to empty the bedpan of the most junior soldier or marine at Walter Reed AMC. And he's questioning the competence of the Chair of the JCS.
Puhleeese!

Searchlight Harry's the poster child for incompetence, a fact perfectly reflected in his scurrilous statement about General Pace. After claiming that "the war is lost", what's new? In for a dime, in for a dollar....

I just love Grim's mission. What a great, easy to do idea....
Too simple not to do.
If people are worried about what to say and that stops them from writing.
Don't let it.
Write from your heart. If that young man or woman were standing in front of you, what would you say?
Say it.
Senator Reid, Speaker Pelosi, Rep Murtha piss you off for what they've said and done?
THIS is your way to counter their disgusting behavior.
Just do it. Send some young Marine a little email of encouragement.
And then do it again.
And again.

whoa, "incroyable"!!??!!
Incroyable?????
How do you try to use that word and no one comments about it. How do you even know that word to try to use it?
i am sorry, but your post was totally blown off the tracks the moment you featured 'incroyable'. We need to stomp down on the brake and sidebar this issue now, so that it won't be an issue in the future.
Incroyable

The really sweet irony of this is, of course, that it is apparent to anyone with a brain that Harry Reid is himself incompetent... and that calling him such is doing him a favor, as it may hide from the clueless the greater truth that he is a despicable cur.
Some people just don't know when they are at the point where they are as well off as they're going to get, and it's time to just shut up.

People like Reid, Pelosi, Murtha, An Incredulous(ly Assinine) Reader/MarkInIrvine, etc. need to keep in mind the old saying:
"It is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt."

Harry Reid rocks. 18% approval. I'm telling you it don't get much better than that.
Posted by: Purple Avenger at June 16, 2007 05:25 AM
These bozos bring a piece of crap nobody wants to the floor of the senate for a vote TWICE and Harry Reid has the nerve to call our generals incompetent? Have they seen the latest opinion polls? Cockroaches have better approval numbers.

This is pretty amazing. For the longest time, in the nutroots it's been Fake but Accurate. Now all of a sudden it's Accurate but Fake.
When it follows their template, unsubstantiated innuendo and outright fakery are the rule. When it doesn't, all the facts in the world don't matter.

Since something smells a little fishy both heah;
"But we've just spoken with three of the prominent liberal bloggers who say they were on the call, and they all say they don't remember Reid saying anything like this. One flatly denies that he said it."and heah '
"I was on that call. And let me explain to The Politico why I did not report on it.
It's because those of us who actually participated in the conference call heard the context in which Senator Reid made his comments. What he said about Pace was not said in the spirit of throwing some rhetorical red meat to a bunch of liberal bloggers by gratuitously bashing General Pace -- which is certainly what one could infer from The Politicos "reporting" on this story.
Rather, Reid was talking informally about George W. Bush's refusal to dump Alberto Gonzales and told us what he said to Pace in a private meeting before Bush tossed aside the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff like a rotting fish.
Here's exactly what Reid said:
"I guess the president, uh, he's gotten rid of Pace because he could not get him confirmed here in the Senate⦠Pace is also a yes-man for the president and I told him to his face, I laid it out to him last time he came to see me, I told him what an incompetent man I thought he was."
So, did Reid utter the word "incompetent" in the same sentence with General Pace's name on the conference call? Yes, he did.
But in the context in which it was said -- and based on Reid's tendency to speak like the straight-talking, former boxer that he is -- it all makes sense. And to those of us not looking for a Matt Drudge-worthy story, it hardly seemed remarkable."
I though it only appropriate to offer mah services as a special prosecutor (and it might just impress Miss Lilly ta boot) to get to the bottom of this bed of rattlin'-snake slippery-ness.
With best regahds, two six-shooters, and a long, strong rope,
Judge Roy.

Harry Reid couldn't carry the wet jockstrap of either of the General officers he denigrated with his pithy comment to a bunch of anti-constitutional ignoramouses! The only reason Gen. Pace wouldn't crush that little puke is the fact that Gen. Pace is an officer and gentleman by upbring and training and his mother told him not to pick on people who were smaller than he is, either physically or mentally!
Harry Reid is a small-statured, small-minded, self-centered, narcissistic, power-hungry little tick turd! I doubt that Harry said anything to Gen. Pace's face! He has never demonstrated that kind of courage in the past.
An even bigger insult was when Harry called General Petraeus incompetent. Read Harry's biography sometime and see all that he'd acomplished prior to his election to the Senate. WOW! A Capitol policeman! That ought to make Harry an expert in asymetrical warfare, combating an insurgency and combat in a built up area, all of which are Gen. Patraeus' areas of expertise!
If Harry wants to see "Incompetent", he should look in a mirror! He looks so much ilke Don Knotts that the D. C. Police Chief probably made him carry his one bullet in his shirt pocket rather than in his revolver!
Let's just ignore Harry anad ensure that he doesn't become the Speaker again in 2008.

Grim, my oldest boy is pretty quick. He's got a killer wit, too. I'm not sure they know what to make of him down there just yet.
He scares me too sometimes.
