Military Demotivator Contest

[moved to the top]

Speaking of demotivating...

Sadly, I am consumed with a crisis at work that is keeping me busy day and night. In the meantime I thought that perhaps a game would be fun.

Create your own Military Demotivator poster here. Marine team member Cassy Fiano has gotten us off to a great start:

Note: I posted the wrong image earlier - sorry!

There will be prizes (yes, real prizes!) for:

1. Best Application of Inter Service Snark

2. Best "Embracing the Suck" Poster

Email me if you have ideas for additional prizes! If you don't have a blog and want me to post your entry below the fold, send it to me. If you have a blog and have posted your entry there, please email me the link and I'll place it below the fold.

The contest will end next Wednesday and for once, will be judged promptly. Do your worst, peoples!

Update: John is dead meat. Jealousy is such an ugly emotion, don't you think?

Heh :)

Hey, I know that guy... Fortunately I do _not_ know the Villainous girl John so aptly pictured. :p

Heh...that poster reminded me of something our then-Kindergartner said when we lived on an Army installation: "When I grow up I want to be a soldier because they don't have to exercise." Not sure where she got that notion (except her own observations maybe). Out of the mouths of babes...

HOLY CRAP! I was a bit of a fat body (five years in, I only did NOT have to be taped one time, and that was because my squad leader was so short, he measured me as being 6'2", rather than my normal 5'10") but PUHLEEZE!! That dude? I didn't think they MADE PT gear that big.

Yeah, the Marines I knew were pretty tough, good guys the lot of them. The WM's scared me a bit. Not because they were "too butch" or any nonsense like that, just that it was a bit disturbing to know that the fine lady you're eyeballing knew EXACTLY how much pressure it took to break your arm or rip off your ear. Air Force girls were much, MUCH less threatening. But I exclusively dated civilians and Army girls.

As for John... well Ms. Cass, you DID say there were photos of you on the Internet you wouldn't want for general consumption. I will just have to assume that's one of them?

*runs for the hills*

Great blog!

As a mil blogger, do you know about Digital Veterans Day, Nov 11?

Check it out: http://open.mytbwa.com/emails/MyVetwork%20DVD%20Invite/DVD_Invite_mail-alt.html and let me know if you want to take part. If you can’t join in person but have a webcam, I can add your name/email address to “satellite” participants who’ll be sent a Digital Veterans Day “toolkit” prior to Nov 11. All free, brought to you by MyVetwork (community.myvetwork.com), to help the US military community.

Thanks, Jay, MyVetwork, 212-452-4800

Marines are completely useless at sea, except, perhaps, as ballast. But I'll admit that once those boys and girls are put ashore, they means business.

I may not exactly be a beauty, but I hope I look a bit better than that :p

You, sir, and "spr rdr", are cruisin'...

Posted by: Cassandra at October 28, 2009 04:14 PM

Hmmmmm. Nope. That guy's not me, I have more hair than that.

Actually, the picture is one I got of Carrie a coupla milblog conferences ago, during a pub crawl. The famous Boston Maggie crawl.

At least that's my story.

No, the pic of *Cassie* will go up tomorrow.

Oh Lord. I'm in trouble now :p

You're one of the few who actually *does* have a photo of me.

*cringing*

Posted by: Cassandra at October 28, 2009 04:22 PM

Oh, c'mon, I have more than just *one*...

Posted by: John "That Rat Bastard!" of Argghhh! at October 28, 2009 04:24 PM

Yes, but I assume you'd like to live...

Posted by: Cassandra at October 28, 2009 04:37 PM

You, sir, and "spr rdr", are cruisin'...

Ok, since imminent death is now off the table, what could I do to get in your good graces again ma'am?

Posted by: MikeD at October 28, 2009 04:37 PM

Cruising? Yeah. I'm crusing. Hell, it's just a big watery crusing world once we've finally drowned the Carnival Cruise Lines and everything Jimmy Buffet.

But what do I know. I blew out my flip flop.

Posted by: spd rdr at October 28, 2009 04:44 PM

I don't "do" pub crawls, John. but nice try.

Cassandra and several others can bear witness to the fact that THAT is not me.
By a long, damned shot....

Posted by: Carrie at October 28, 2009 05:09 PM

Furthermore, it can't be me because I am not eating a puppy in the picture and I DON'T have ink.

Case closed.

Posted by: Carrie at October 28, 2009 05:13 PM

But it *could* be you. That's all that matters. The more you protest, the more you condemn yourself.

Ink's removable.

MSM Rules of Fact-Checking apply.

If you want to play Dan Rather...go for it.

We all know how that turned out.

Posted by: Carrie at October 28, 2009 05:48 PM

I has one...where do I send it, and how? Why, yes, I am technically feeble-minded. Why do you ask?

I have a few ideas.

Posted by: Cricket at October 28, 2009 10:17 PM

It's about being 'fake but accurate.' He reports, you decide.

Posted by: Cricket at October 28, 2009 10:18 PM

You're one of the few who actually *does* have a photo of me.

You're forgetting your Abu Dhabi fan club...

Posted by: BillT at October 29, 2009 12:40 AM

Hi, I tried my hand at this, with the result up on my blog at http://jirel.com/press/?p=470 - thanks!

Posted by: MikeH at October 29, 2009 03:08 PM

Cricket, you can email it to me.

Posted by: Cassandra at October 30, 2009 06:20 PM

On the "Unclear on the concept...", I'd like to point out... where exactly did you think baby tanks come from Cass? A mommy tank and a daddy tank need to love each other VERY much...

Posted by: MikeD at November 2, 2009 11:01 AM

OMG :)
