Watch Out Where the 'Piskies Go...

For some reason I found myself thinking of Betty Butterfield this morning:

I was raised in an Episcopalian church that balanced the liturgy and non-traditionalism pretty well. Unfortunately now it seems that Everything is open to whatever interpretation is popular (or just as possibly that those who still care about The Book's rules are just to socially terrified to be seen as not PC to do anything..... hmmmm.... Ft. Hood anyone?). Just as with any sports team, you can't be in the game if you don't follow the rules (or at least abide by the penalties you receive), all you can do is pose.
I don't know which is sadder, the people who are violating the tenets of their supposedly espoused faith, or the people who remain with the deviant organization....

William sends (with sadness in his heart).

I think the 'tragic flaw' of the Episcopal church is tolerance. In moderation it's a great virtue but there's such a thing as being so open minded your brains leak out ;p

Maybe the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles just elected their first openly gay bishop, but they did it first in New England...kind of like gay "marriage". I quit attending an ELCA church I'd been attending for 30+ years after the parent organization decided [this past August] to permit openly gay, practicing homosexuals into the clergy. I'm all for welcoming anyone and everyone to worship, but holding them up as role models is something else entirely; I don't think we are supposed to ignore what the Bible says on the subject, either.

If gold should rust, what then should iron do?
