Scumbag Alert

I hope they throw the book at this woman:

A Kentucky woman was convicted Thursday of demanding millions of dollars from Rick Pitino to keep secret their one-night stand in a restaurant, then claiming the Louisville basketball coach raped her after he reported the extortion.

Karen Cunagin Sypher, 50, of Louisville, was found guilty of three counts of extortion, two counts of lying to the FBI and one count of retaliating against a witness. She stared at the ceiling as the verdict was read, while one of her sons wept openly.

Neither Pitino nor Sypher comes out of this looking good but unlike Sypher, when Pitino was confronted with the consequences of his actions he eventually faced up to them and took his lumps.

Cheating on your wife with some bimbo you meet in a restaurant is obviously not a good thing, but such behavior pales when compared to what Sypher did: knowingly seducing a married man and then blackmailing him.

Sypher needs to spend a very long time behind bars and I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. Far from being a victim, Sypher is a predator. The fact that her victim was apparently a bit too willing to play along doesn't excuse her behavior in the least. Pitino will face his own punishment.

"Even though it's Sypher who is on trial, nobody is coming out of this a winner. "

Criminals will find ways to punish their victims. A trial is just one of many methods if extortion doesn't work.

Rick's issue is that he is stupid. Security involves more than desire.

The highest priority when you see women trying to attract you, is that she is bait and once you go out with her, Islamic boyos or your personal enemies will snatch you off the streets and torture/execute you.

Men that don't consider such scenarios are called sheep and potential prey. There's plenty of sheep around. And they live happy and fruitful lives, not because they are virtuous, but because the predators are off eating some other sheep. You're lucky if you aren't the Jewish boy in France that fell into this trap. You're lucky if it is just an affair like Tiger Woods had. You're lucky if it was simply blackmail and extortion. But people are foolish, easily fooled, and basically most are good only for turning good food into shat fertilizer.

I agree that Pitino's behavior leaves a lot to be desired, Ymar.

But I'm especially offended at this bimbo's shameless exploitation of an encounter she appears to have initiated. That doesn't excuse him - after all, he could have (and should have) said no.

If women think behaving like the worst sort of man constitutes liberation, they need to act like adults and take responsibility for their actions. Freedom implies responsibility, or it did before Teh Won came along to tell us that none of us should ever have to face the consequences of our own freely made decisions.

An excellent example of why you say "No", even if -- or is it especially if -- Mr. Lizard is screaming "Yes! Yes! Yes!" and the forebrain is saying "Who's going to know?"

Ymarsakar's link, fixed.

No better advice exists than "Thanks, I'll give it a pass."

You're welcome.

I think that he might be able to redeem himself, to a great extent, by using this as a (I -hate- this phrase these days, it's been misappropriated) "teachable moment". (Instructional opportunity?)

Look, players. You're going to be hit on by really attractive girls. I can't make you say "no", but let me tell you what can happen when you say "yes" ... and tell the entire mess. ... Don't be fooled like I was; someone else always knows. Be damned sure that you know who they really are, how old they really are, what their marital status really is, and after that and in addition to all of that, that you can really, really, trust them. There are lots and lots of girls, and you have only one reputation.
He can give the speech every season forever, and it might save a few of his players. It won't restore his reputation, but "right living" might.

That's when the Other Person who lives inside my head whispers, "You will."

True. I was thinking that she would, too.

You all need psychological care. Don't worry, Obama will pay for it all.

I'm not sure I'd trust a government-paid shrink.

Most psychiatrists and psychologists vote Democrat, you know ; )

You mean there are ones that aren't? Lucky you!

There are always the exceptions to the rule. Take Manning for example.
