There's something to said about a pack of dogs who will let anyone and his brother drive into your driveway and walk up onto the porch without nary a peep, but will go ballistic over someone farting in the neighborhood half a mile down the hill.
Not sure what the *something* is yet. But several adjectives are jumping onto my train of thought at the moment.

Clearly, you need yet another dog.

te adjective you're searching for is "dumb."
Speaking of which, on Monday my dumb dog managed to reach a thoughtlessly placed basket full of left over Easter candy. On Tuesday I paid $500 dollars for the vet to tell me that he shouldn't do that because it's bad for him. So who's dumber, me or my dumb dog?

Yanno, Grim, the VES and I have been telling MH that for several weeks now to no avail.

Youch! Although, I once paid over $500 to have a vet clean out a septic splinter from the cheek of a dog because the puss pocket had exploded into my palm when I went to pet him, so, I'm not quite sure I can accurately judge your so-called *dumbness* in this matter....
